I have received an enquiry from the

Auditor of Hong Kong (copy enclosed) relating

to a payment of $40,000 to the Colonial Secretary.

In order that I may reply to the Auditor I shall

be glad if the relative papers, which I understand

are now under consideration, may be referred to me

in due course.
